KanCheck Implementation News
When Senate Substitute for Senate Substitute for House Bill 2386 (originally HB 2427) passed in the 2018 session it amended the criminal record check statutes for Adult Care Homes (K.S.A. 39-970), Home Health Agencies (K.S.A. 65-5117) and HCBS (K.S.A. 39-2009).
Many of the amendments became effective July 1, 2018 and have been implemented. However, the national fingerprint-based criminal record check was not implemented at that time. Implementation will begin in 2020 and go through 2021. The online portal built for that purpose is called KanCheck.
Update 2022
Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) was working with a group of volunteer facilities to conduct a Mini Pilot of KanCheck in early January 2020 and ended in March 2020. Due to COVID-19 and other unforeseen circumstances, the mini pilot of KanCheck came to an end and a decision has been made at this time to not resume. In the meantime, name-based checks are still required to be requested through the current portal.
