Governor Laura Kelly announced today that the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) has awarded $65.4 million made available through the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) Executive Committee and State Finance Council. This round of awards funds programs designed to close service gaps in the continuum of care by addressing statewide shortages of health and behavioral health services and the state’s increasing demand for a well-trained health care workforce.

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly today announced that since its launch in July 2022, the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline has handled a nearly 27% increase in call volume compared to the six months before its launch. Based on national projections, Kansas is estimated to reach 120,000 Kansans in the hotline’s first full year of operation.

Medicaid’s Money Follows the Person (MFP) program provided the funding to increase the home- and community-based services (HCBS) available to Kansans who want to transition from institutional care to independent living.

Governor Laura Kelly today announced that the State of Kansas and the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas (KTIK) have together received $17.2 million in federal grant funding to address the opioid crisis.
