In accordance with the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), as the designated State Unit on Aging, is mandated to submit a “State Plan on Aging” to the U.S. Administration on Aging. This plan describes the agency’s vision and purpose, including the goals and strategies to achieve this vision. Development of the plan is accomplished through interaction with the Kansas Aging Network.
KDADS is hosting FOUR in-person listening sessions and ONE virtual listening session to allow older Kansans the opportunity to share their suggestions, needs, comments, and feedback regarding Older Americans Act services. Participation is invaluable and will be used to develop the upcoming 2026-2029 State Plan on Aging.

KDADS collaborates with the 11 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to support the independence of older adults and help them remain in their homes for as long as possible.
OAA program services include:
- Legal assistance
- Caregiver & in-home services (e.g., homemaker, personal care)
- Health promotion programs (like physical fitness & exercise)
- Nutrition services (e.g., home-delivered meals)
- Transportation
- And more!
