KDADS to Kick Off Operation Red File in Douglas County

TOPEKA -- The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services’ (KDADS) Senior Medicare Patrol will team up with Douglas County sponsors February 9 to launch Operation Red File, a program designed to help seniors keep their critical health information accessible if needed in an emergency.

“Anyone attending this kickoff event will be able to get their Red File. We will have plenty of  KDADS staff and sponsor volunteers on-site to help attendees fill out forms and answer questions to get them started using this life-saving program,” KDADS Secretary Tim Keck said. will also be on-site broadcasting live from the event. “ is honored to serve as the media sponsor for Operation Red File. It is a necessity for all adults to have their medical information in a convenient place in case of emergency and this program is saving lives. We strongly encourage all of you to spread the word and help us raise awareness and funds for Operation Red File,” said owner Jay Wachs.

Midland Care Director of Patient Access Brenda Williams said, “We are excited to be a part of this statewide effort for Operation Red File. We fully support the efforts being made to have all vital documents located in a central place for emergency and hospital personnel.”

Operation Red File inaugurated in Shawnee County last year and has continued to grow statewide. Douglas will be the 8th county in the state to launch the initiative and more kick-off events are scheduled in the coming months.
